CONTENT EDITING: Also referred to as developmental editing, this involves working with authors to develop manuscripts for submission and publication, focusing on the content of the work, character flaws, or plot inconsistencies.
RESEARCH: Compiling public and private information in a presentable format.
REWRITING: Reading a manuscript or collection, and remodeling the text from the original material to a format suitable for publication, such as a book or an article.
INDEXING: This involves alphabetically organizing key words and concepts for display in the back matter of a book or report.
DOCUMENT CHECKING: Proofreading, copy editing, and sometimes rewriting all types of written communications, including correspondence, documents, manuscripts, and web sites.
